HOW IT WORKS
Take a picture or import a copy of your proposed floor plans for the purpose of taking dimensions and calculating floor areas. This is also great to track any changes in your design and provides a reference for what the costs are related to.
Select if you want a rough estimate or a thorough estimate based on the information you have available followed by answering a short selection of questions which will help pin point your project requirements. Costs are set at average rates but can be adjusted to suit the projects complexity and location giving you even more control.
Review your estimated costs and a breakdown of costs which are all based on national statistics for project pricing commonly used by builders and project estimators. Results can then be exported to PDF or Excel where either further information can be added or you can simply use it as a benchmark price to assess project feasibility, set project budgets or compare to builders quotations.
FAST & RELIABLE BUILDING COST ESTIMATES
THE PASSION BEHIND THE IDEA
With a background in architecture and having worked on an array of projects to help people realise their dream home, a key issue that kept coming up was affordability and budget. Working closely with our clients it was apparent that they wanted cost certainty from an early stage. After all, what good is planning permission if you can't afford the works or why invest in a property if the renovation costs will exceed the value of the property. We knew it wasn't fair for our clients to pay a fortune only to realise their project was not feasible when the building quotes came in so we thought how can we manage expectations, and so Pocket Estimator was born.
Our app aims to give users an early insight into the costs they are likely to incur based on a national data base of typical material and labour costs. We sought out industry leaders and with their help we put together a selection of questions which would narrow down the major build costs. Our vision is that users will be able to set realistic project budgets and adjust their design at the early stages to something affordable whilst meeting their aspirations. This can then be used as a benchmark for approaching architects and builders, giving users the comfort of knowing they are not overpaying.
Pocket Estimator uses the methods used by quantity surveyors for over a century and combines it with the technical prowess of the latest technology to provide a simple user friendly method of calculating building costs. Our team have worked tirelessly to bring features such as image scaling so that measurements can be taken directly from your phone from even a hand sketch and combining them with a wide selection of the most commonly used fabric build up's so that the specification meets the all important building control criteria.
